Dutch Joe Bridge Replacement Project underway on Pinedale Ranger District
Visitors might see delays on the Big Sandy Road during August

Work is underway to replace the Dutch Joe Bridge on the Pinedale Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Contractors began staging and installing a temporary bypass bridge downstream of the existing crossing on Friday, July 25. The temporary bridge will allow continued access while the aging structure is removed and replaced.
Delivery of the new 80-foot permanent replacement bridge is expected later this week. The bridge will be transported and offloaded just south of the Forest boundary before being carefully hauled to the project site via truck and trailer. Due to the narrow, single-lane nature of the Big Sandy Road (NFSR 370850), motorists should anticipate traffic delays due to slow-moving equipment.
There are currently no road closures associated with the project; however, construction activity will continue through August. Visitors traveling in the Big Sandy area are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for extra time while passing through the work zone.
